Off for more band photos. We are going to try riding the bus for a while. Maybe get off a couple shots there. My friend Mark will be taking pictures again. He's real good. Check him out!
Here's a link to some music videos done by Mark Romanek. He's pretty good, too.

Dinner Party Candle
Okay, okay... so earlier in the month I posted that getting pictures off of my camera phone was complicated. Turns out all you need is something called, "Bluetooth File Exchange." 'Nuff said.
Went over to friends' Ryan and Meegee for a dinner treat this evening! Meegee cooked up some mean Mexican/Vegetarian fixins'... yum!
They have a little parrotlet called "Blueberry"!

Blueberry-bird... she's a nicey.

They have some neat lamp-signs in their home... there's only one way out!

Pearson Int'l Airport
It seems as though pictures of airports are not very inventive, but then again, when that's what you see when you arrive in a city, it makes an impression.
I spent the week in Toronto; here's a look at North York in the morning:

No, that's not a car lot.
iTunes, iTunes, when will PIONEER 10 be posted?

Chicago O'Hare Int'l Airport

The taxi ride.
Spent most of the day wondering just exactly how air conditioning works inside of the taxi cabs, and how big the city of Chicago really is. Attached to Lake Michigan, the 3rd largest city in the US boasts just under 3 million people. Read more...

Going to America
12/09/05 08:54 Filed in: An Open Diary

Tomorrow launches another travel week, starting in Chicago. Going to make a stop at Steve Albini's studio, Electrical. Then it's off to Toronto... where I'm hoping to visit a fellow musician from a punk rock band I played in during the mid-90's. Extra points if you can tell me the name of the band!
Through the Roof

After spending part of the weekend continuing to produce and engineer one of the projects I've been working on for about a year now, I think its time to pry myself away from the studio again. Trying out a digital controller console... nice. Anything to get the mouse and keyboard away, and the tactile mixin' and engineerin' feel back is good. And it works with both Logic and Pro Tools. But it's also a bit of a drug, so away we go.
By the way - be sure to read Jack's article on "How to Overproduce a Rock Record."
Looks like some travel in store for the next week-and-a-half. Chicago, then Toronto.
Remember our friends in NYC today.

Guitar Tuning and Film Soundtracks
08/09/05 18:00 Filed in: Rants
Ever try and tune a guitar? It's almost impossible. Here's some links to folks talking about it:
Jack Endino - Jack even went as far to build his own guitar that has the correct fret spacings!
Precision Strobe Tuners
Just Intonation Explained
Actually, I should apologize in advance -- You might want to sit down for those ones. It's quite a read, and you won't listen to your guitar the same way ever again (if you play).
On another note: I've been working on a film soundtrack with a friend of mine and realized just exactly how odd the experience has been, after reading the CD-R label late one night:
1. Porno
2. Nein
3. Escalator
Need more rock. Maybe tomorrow night!

Hello World...
02/09/05 18:12 Filed in: An Open Diary

Here we are...
Another blog to read, another open diary, another personal soap box, another rant. Be forewarned, for here will be all three, depending on the mood of the day, of course.
If you're looking for specific band related stuff, either look in the NEWS section, or head on over to the FORUM. That's where you will find details related to PIONEER 10.
If you do decide to stick around here, have fun. And be sure to speak your mind in the comments.
Here's to the first blog entry!
